Introduction

            While watching a musical performance or music video, it is sometimes hard to take your eyes off of the performer. The style in which a performer portrays themselves is oftentimes the same way in which they portray their background dancers. Today’s music culture has become a very sexualized industry and it is evident in many music videos and performances especially when you take the time to focus on the background dancers or background performers, rather than the main performer. Our blog will discuss background dancers throughout the course of certain artist’s careers, and compare the style in which male performers and female performers exploit their background dancers.
